MaryLee Alford visited our Club on August 16, 2019, delivering an inspirational presentation of the ravaged British Virgin Islands in the wake of Hurricane Irma (a Category 5 storm) in 2017, which caused widespread destruction to these beautiful islands, destroying homes, tourist areas and schools.

MaryLee and her husband Carl, who are involved in numerous local community service organizations, are aficionados of sailing, and have traveled extensively throughout the BVI, falling in love with the people and places of the islands.

The Alford team is working towards creating partnerships to help with the educational needs of the children of BVI (schools, books, etc.), an integral component of revitalizing the islands. The Southlake Rotary Club is happy to partner with MaryLee & Carl Alford for this very worthy cause.

Thankfully, the British Virgin Islands were spared a direct hit by the recent Sept 1st storm, Hurricane Dorian, and suffered no major damage --- although, tragically, the Bahamas were not so fortunate.

We hope MaryLee and Carl will visit our Club again with updates! #rotaryconnectstheworld #wearerotary #peopleofaction
